BRINGING TOGETHER THE OLD AND THE NEW, TO CELEBRATE 40 YEARS
Here’s a taster of the street theatre that you can see across the two weekends.
DRAGON HEART BEATS
The opening day of Arundel Festival will see a giant 30 foot-long and 20-foot high moving, fire-breathing, musical dragon descend into the Town Square!
Dragon Heart Beats is a dramatic live music and street theatre experience. With its extraordinary dragon and riveting, sometimes, darkly comic show, the energetic percussion and puckish spirit of Dragon Heart Beats’ three other-worldly performers brings wonder into the heart of any event, leaving audiences wide-eyed and amazed. Fiery dragon breath, smoke, lighting effects & pyrotechnics accompany the powerful percussive music, amplified by the dragon’s onboard sound system. Don’t miss it.
Hakuna Matata will have audiences open-mouthed. Her show, Funky Fidelmi, is full of high-fly acrobatic-defying tricks, performed on an apparatus known as a Chinese pole, by a performer who’s just a little bit clumsy…
JANE CLARITY joined by ST PHILIP’S SCHOOL CHOIR
We are absolutely thrilled that Arundel’s own opera singer, Jane Clarity, will accompany the flag-raising ceremony led by the Duchess of Arundel. The children of St. Philip’s Catholic Primary School and Arundel C of E Primary School are very pleased to be uniting to take part on the opening day of the Arundel Festival. The children range in age from 7 – 11 years and are regular members of their school choirs. The two schools often collaborate together musically at such events as the Lord Mayor’s Service. They will be led and conducted by Juliet Robinson, a specialist music teacher who has taught music in both primary and secondary schools for over 30 years. The children will be singing songs in a wide range of styles from African, Scottish, Gaelic to Hip-Hop!
